the hyatt regency is located in the upscale la jolla resort community and is close to everything . right off of i-5 and just five minutes to the beaches, the golf courses and the quaint la jolla shopping district 'the jewel of the pacific'. the service was prompt and friendly from the moment we arrived  - the doorman was expecting us the lobby to greet us. this is a great business hotel with 419 updated guestrooms and 32,000 sq. ft. of function space including the 11,800 sqft aventine ballroom and pavilion sun room that is nearly 6,000 sq. ft is perfect for meals or exhibit space.  the unexpected bonus is the adjacent sporting club and spa facility which is home to a full service health club with an outdoor olympic style pool and tennis courts. and when they say there are several nearby restaurants that is an understatement. literally just steps from the front of the hotel is the restaurant village with four excellent internationally themed restaurants. my favorite is cafe japengo where we sampled some of the best sushi in the area as voted on by san diego magazine.
